Public Search and Index Redesign

We know we haven’t launched anything new for a couple weeks, but tonight we are introducing a new Search feature that anyone can use (registered or not) and a redesigned index page that shows off the power of Yazzem.

First off, the new search tool will enable anyone to search status updates and topic comments quickly and easily. Just visit search.yazzem.com and enter any search term. You can choose to either view all status updates or all topic comments. Within the next few weeks, we plan on enhancing search to it’s full potential.

The new index page takes search and integrates it, along with adding Latest Activities and some cool links and reviews we have gotten.

Hope you like the new updates to Yazzem!

Thanks,
The Yazzem Team

New Twitter Integration, @mentions, Status Comments, and More!

Tonight is a very exciting night with the launch of Twitter integration, @mentions, status comments, Latest Activity filter, the ability to delete comments, and some other, minor upgrades. At first, we were just expecting to launch status comments and the Latest Activity, but that little project soon turned into a major upgrade to Yazzem. These new features have been requested many times, and now we are glad to be making them available to everyone!

Here is the list of new features:

Twitter integration – Since you can update your status on Yazzem, we thought it would be cool if you could have those updates posted to Twitter, too. So, now you can connect your Yazzem account with Twitter by going into Settings > Twitter > and then entering your Twitter credentials.

@mentions – An @mention is when you mention/reply to someone in a comment or status update by putting an @ symbol before their username. So, for example, @dustin would link to Dustin Snider’s profile. You can keep track of all your mentions by going to the new Mentions page, found in the navigation.

Status Comments – Status updates now show a link called ‘comment’, which allows anyone to leave a thought on a status.

Latest Activity Filter – We noticed that the Latest Activity timeline can become crowded with updates about topics. So, we created a filter that filters out the updates you don’t want to see. Meaning, you can view just statuses, or just topic updates.

The ability to delete comments/statuses – We added a small blue trashcan next to your comments/statuses, just in case you make a mistake, etc.

Hope you all like the new updates, and let us know what you think!

New Design Plus a New Friend

As you probably have noticed already, there is a new design – that is wickedly awesome! You can see that it brings in a cleaner, smoother, and just more enjoyable feel to Yazzem.

This could not of been possible without the talented Felipe Gomez over at 12fruits.com for creating the graphics. He said he would have the new graphics in 3 weeks, but had them ready in 2 days!

Also, I would like to introduce the newest member to the Yazzem team (well, not literally). Who is he? He’s a cute, yet mischievous alien we are taking care of til further notice. In the next few weeks, you’ll be seeing a lot more of him.

Hope you like the new design and our new friend!

Thanks,
Zachary Collins

Start Connecting Even More With the New Contacts Feature

Let’s face it. We all know it’s hard to find others on Yazzem again after visiting their profile…but that has all changed with the new Contacts feature released tonight. This will allow you to easily add anyone on Yazzem to your Contacts list, so you can easily find them and leave them comments.

All you have to do is visit someone’s profile, and right under their profile pic and username, you’ll see a link that says “Add to Contacts”. Click it and you have just added that person. Or course, you can always remove them from your list, too.

Give it a try by adding me or Dustin to your Contacts.

Need Help or Have a Question? – Visit help.yazzem.com

This week has been very exciting with some great improvements to Yazzem. Including the new profile comments feature, which is already showing it’s power and popularity.

However, with all of these great new things, or for just new members, you always run into questions. That’s why today, I am proud to announce the new Help Center found at help.yazzem.com!

You’ll now be able to search questions and tutorials that will help you get to know Yazzem. And, if you can’t find exactly what your looking for, just ask us a question yourself and we’ll be more than glad to answer.

Hope you enjoy and it comes in handy.

Nazzem = Yazzem + Ning

Since launch, I have been intensively developing Nazzem. Nazzem is the simplest and fastest way to integrate your Yazzem topic into your Ning network. Nazzem uses built-in features in both platforms and brings them together with a few lines of code. Topics are then added to a new page on your Ning network allowing your members to post status updates to that topic. Nazzem should be ready for public beta sometime late next week.

If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me at dustin@nazzem.yazzem.com or leave me a comment.

Profile Comments Are Here!

All day I’ve been working on a much needed feature and now it’s here: Profile Comments! This means you can now visit anyone’s profile page and leave a comment for them. Give it a try by visiting my profile and leaving me a comment.

One other thing I would like to mention (and will talk more about later) is the upcoming project, Nazzem, which stands for Ning + Yazzem. Nazzem generates a code for any topic that you can place into your Ning network! Check out this screenshot to get an idea of what it does.

If you have any questions, leave me or Dustin a comment!

We’re Gonna Blow Your Socks Off This June

As you probably all know (but if you didn’t yet) we are launching Yazzem this June! Since the screencast I made and uploaded, we have made a lot of improvements and added a lot more features that are “Gonna blow your socks off!” So, of course, I uploaded some new screenshots below:

What’s New?

Groups are now called Topics – not much to explain there.
Dashboard – There is a now a user Dashboard with quick links to things you can do on Yazzem.
Descriptions and Keywords – You will now be able to add a description and keywords to your topics.
Better Search – Search used to be weak and just plainly boring, but now each result shows a group description and a “join” link so you don’t have to visit the topic first and then join.

I’ll be uploading a new screencast showing off all of the new features within the next few days.
